Subject: FITB - Feb update

Hi All

A quick update......

Still some tickets left for Martin Simpson on Fri 17th Feb.
It's interesting, this gig is bringing in loads of new people to Folk in the Barn which is fantastic. A warm welcome to you all.
Show of Hands tickets are going like......er..... warm moist
chocolatey muffins! Not many left for Saturday night now
but still quite a few for the Friday. A huge well done to lots of you who are braving the two gigs, that's dedication for you and shows excellent taste.
Saw a few familiar faces at the Kadril gig last Saturday at the Gulbenkian. They were great and come across as really nice people. It's a shame they only do one gig a year in the UK. It would be great to see them at some of the UK summer fetivals. Perhaps we should all email some organisers on their behalf.
For those who don't know, they are described as the Belgian Fairport! Actually I don't think they are 'like' anyone, they have their own style and it's very appealing right down to the violintrumpet! What was That??
Another entertaining night was Wednesday at Faversham Folk Club. There was a full house for The Witches of Elswick, who were funny and talented, despite being one man (woman) down. What grabbed me though was a very short floor spot by a duo from Sussex, Kevin Barber and Mark Taylor...... www.barber-taylor.co.uk/
They definitely left me wanting to hear more, two guitars complementing each other perfectly as did their voices. Talking of Faversham Folk Club - Vin Garbutt is there next Weds, don't miss him. Check out what else they have lined up.... www.favershamfolkclub.net/

Last but absolutely NOT least - if you have to be anywhere this week make sure it's Tuesday night at the Medway Folk Cellar, Central Theatre Chatham. Gerry, Mart, Nick and Dave - ColvinQuarmby will be back in the County, fresh from their sell out tour of Holland - Yes all of it!! (well maybe not). So If you're suffering from a bit of winter gloom, come along and I guarantee they'll shake it off for you for a few hours at least. Starts 8pm supported by Kent's own and very entertaining 'Hot Rats' 01634 338338

oops some ps's

ps 1 - Fab gig tonight in Canterbury at the Orange Street Music club - Two excellent local bands - The Fat River Band plus Waterhorse. This will be an excellent gig in a really interesting venue. I wish I could go but I'll be in Cambridge - drat!
ps 2 - The second get-together of Folk in the Barn music club is this coming Thursday (9th) at Barham Methodist Church, Barham obviously. 7.30pm All welcome. No talent necessary just a love of acoustic music, good company, tea and chocolate biscuits! Email me for details.
ps 3 - I've forgotten what number 3 is now, I'll get back to you if I remember. Must be my age or chocolate deprivation.
